this diagram shows the advantages of both networks (red and blue) and the profit you have when combining the two. the second one shows the changes after our interventions.
tin, i dont get quite well what the part is after the arrow, for me it could be more showing that seperately, they dont support everything, but combined they can complement and enhance the system so it looks like with the grey after intervention, it is not as good as before? i m not getting it completely...
the second part was meant to show the changes after our intervention. the gray doesn't mean it is bad or worse than before, but it still remains. the intervention provides a faster connections via the waterways...that's what i wanted to show. but indeed, maybe it is more useful to show that both systems are stronger when they work together than separately
in these schemes I understand the truck in contrast to the boates, but I don't understand the mill in contrast to the drop of water. What is the story?

maybe you want to bring cost of transport into the diagram? and /or ecologic impact?
Tin,
The 'plus' sign is also an 'intervention' of ours so after the arrow everything that is related to our intervention should be highlighted.
The cost of transport should also be visible (blue extremely cheap compared to red).
I will get back to you after fine tuning our story.
This will be used in the introduction so perhaps along with the connections you can also add the tanks as collectors of the huge amount of water.
